It was a wonderful experience. My mom brought me for brunch to celebrate my 60th birthday. We had a reservation and was bought to a table on arrival. I don't often drink coffee any more, but the smell of the coffee was enticing, so I got some. It tasted as great as it smelled. Our server could have been a little more attentive. She just seemed young and inexperienced. She did address any problems or questions very well. The food was Delicious and in good portions. I had the soup of the day, and a main course, and I was comfortable satisfied. I would definitely recommend Promenade Cafe and Wine to anyone.

Service was great. Burgers and fries were not hot enough. Chicken burger definitely not hot enough and had a ‘different’ cinnamon taste (not a personal preference I guess)Soup (pumpkin bacon…) was delicious.

We were disappointed upon arrival. Our last experience was 18 months ago and the restaurant then was very nice with a romantic ambience (table cloths, cutlery, decoration, etc). This is why we wanted to come back to celebrate a wonderful occasion like last time. This time it appeared sparse and lost its romantic appeal.
The food definitely suffered in quality. The pea soup was merely warm. The Caesar salad was too fishy. The chicken frit was deep fried too long, much too brown and a bit dried out. The lemon cake tasted like it was in the display case a day too long. The cream for the coffee was spoiled and a new coffee was required.
Overall an experience that will not result in a recommendation, a complete opposite of our last visit.

We loved going here for brunch with friends. Its been a while due to the pandemic, and its no shocker to see the prices go up. I understand restaurants have been struggling, and I'm be fine paying an extra $5 for the promenade breakfast, if it still came with everything it used to. But to not give us the option of what kind of toast we'd be getting (we were all told we'd be getting rye), and to charge $1 for jam...its breakfast. It should COME with jam. Maybe don't automatically include it, but if a guest asks for it, just give it to them. The toast used to come buttered, but now you get a tiny dollop of butter on your plate. Guess what happens to butter when its put on a hot plate....yeah, so thats a waste of butter now, and the toast is dry. Not to mention you now get only half the amount of toast that you used to, and the sausage that it now comes with was dry and flavourless. Its so far from the great breakfast experience that we're used to.
Watering down the hot sauce was the kicker though. It just makes you feel like the restaurant is cutting corner's at your expense, and it feels cheap, and gross from a diner's perspective. Honestly....the breakfast doesn't have the same value as it once did, and I think we'll look for another place to do Sunday brunch.

I would love it if there were more gluten free dinner options that I could eat. I used to eat Caesar salad but they don’t offer anymore. Gluten free desserts are scarcer there. I love my floating island but that is gone. I would love a white cake gf dessert but all the others I can’t have. I still enjoy coming but eggs are about all I can have from the menu with my allergies.

This was our first time dining there.
Had white wine mussels, pork special and seafood gnocchi. Sauces were excellent, mussels and pork were amazing, gnocchi was good but seafood was minimal, 2 shrimp 2 mussels. Dessert was disappointing. Chocolate and too hard and too sweet.
Music excellent and the view wonderful from our table but paper napkins, lack of decorating and ceiling tiles a little sad. We will blame the pandemic and long suffering restauranteurs and we will be back!

$16 for what appeared to be one scrambled egg. Sausage was very strange tasting…..tasted it and left it on the plate.

I loved that it is a quiet, intimate atmosphere. The food was really good! Even though it was not overly busy, we did end up waiting quite a while (45 min) for our drinks before our food also finally came. However, our server acknowledged this and offered us a complimentary dessert, as she felt bad that we had to wait so long. This was our first visit to Promenade, and I would go back again.

Our experience at this restaurant was not good. From the moment we walked in we were rudely greeted and made to feel like a hassel. The drink orders came out wrong. My fathers breakfast came out without any bacon on the plate. My breakfast was not what I had ordered, eggs Benedict with tomatoes and mushrooms instead of meat, and it came out with soggy spinach and tomatoes. The server was no where to be found throughout our entire meal and had only come to check on us 20 minutes after everybody had finished eating. When looking for the washroom my cousin asked where is was and the hostess rudely just nodded her head in the direction of them. I manage a restaurant so I understand busy times and understaffing, but there was no excuse for this bad visit.

Can you see a smile behind a mask? Yes, from both our greeter/fax card check & server, friendly exceptional service. Our shared charcuterie was substantial without cheese. It appeared seconds after the wine choice was served. All of our main course selections were presented beautifully. They arrived hot and were plentiful. Desserts of chocolate torte and apple tartan were delicious. Thank you!

We had guests from out of the province and they were very impressed with the service and food. The view toward the river and downtown makes the ambience lovely too. We had a wonderful server who did her best to attend to us from the time we sat down on our table. It took so long for the server to get our orders for the main meals (we ordered for our drinks first) and we waited for at least 25 minutes before she went back to our table and asked what we would like to order. We got our main meals shortly after but we realized that the server forgot to ask us whether we'd like to have some soup first. Anyhow, we were already eating our plated meals but we still asked for our soups.
We also heard that the restaurant was understaffed and the lone server was the only one attending to all customers at that time. We were patient and appreciative all along and we understand that it could be hard for restaurants to operate at this time of COVID. Overall, it was a wonderful experience for me and my family. I just hoped that such a situation would be minimized so we can have a comfortable and enjoyable meal.

This restaurant still requires proof of vaccination which wasn’t mentioned anywhere when making the reservation or we would have went elsewhere as one of our group was turned away.
The food was great. The service was not, they were slow to take orders or come around to check who needed drinks. Then after paying our bill and tipping they immediately told us we had to leave so another group could have our table even though there were many tables open and another large group in the restaurant that got there before us. We were celebrating a 40th birthday so it was disappointing to be rushed out like that. As we were trying to get our stuff together they were reaching over us trying to clear the table and rush us out further.

We loved this place the first time we came. Finally back for second experience this weekend. We were very disappointed in our appetizers (mussels and shrimp) as they did not measure up at all. One dessert we ordered was old and dried out. Felt a bit embarrassed as we brought family for their first visit. Not sure what happened that night but things clearly were not well in the kitchen. Great service and atmosphere. Wine was fab!

The food was delicious as usual! I brought a couple of friends who had never been to your restaurant and they loved the food. However, it was very hot and although there was umbrellas when we requested it be adjusted to block out the sun we were told it could't be adjusted at our table. That option would be a recommendation for all tables. Also fans would be appreciated.

This was a wonderful evening for our family. We appreciated the good food and the service friendly and welcoming. Your venue is lovely: one of the best views in the city!
Only real improvement needed: one of the water glasses had lipstick stain on it. (My husband said:”That’s not my shade of lipstick “ ; ). Also, when refreshing water at the table, to teach staff not to reach across the dinner plate. These are mentioned only to improve on what is already a good thing. Thank you for this wonderful time!

We had eggs benedict and the sauce was very sour, which was not enjoyable. The muffins were actually hard to cut through. We used to come regularly and loved your breakfasts, but they aren’t very good anymore, which is disappointing for us as we love the restaurant and your service and ambience in wonderful.

We had the Valentine's course, the duck was incredible, definitely a 10/10, but the pork was alright, about a 6/10. I wish our server had a bit more wine knowledge as she was unable to give much advice on the wine selection for someone with a sweet pallate

My husband and I went for brunch, which was ok, but not special. We thought $42 was rather pricey for 2 orders of eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, toast & coffee.
The potato portions were huge and we left most of them. We were also surprised that they charged $1 each for jam. At one time this was one of our favorite places to go for a reasonably priced breakfast, but not anymore. Very unlikely that we'll be back.
The service, however, was excellent.

Horrible service. Took 15 min to ask what we wanted to drink, waitress never came to our table to see how we were doing. The food took 40 min to come out, the bread was soggy and bland meal. Horrible all together, I will never go back.

We had group of 6 and we mostly were happy with everything, however my husband was a little disappointed with his dinner. He had ordered the Seafood Gnocchi, and was basically mostly pasta. Also, they ran out of hummus, and a bottle of wine we ordered they no longer carried. Would be nice to have had 9 oz. glasses of wine available as well and more than the three choices of either the red or white.

I won't be coming back. There was something wrong with the hollandaise sauce used on my eggs benedict and although I specified that the first return the food came back with the same sauce. I was offered another item on the menu, but one individual at our table had already been told it would be along wait for an add on, so felt that asking for a different item was ill advised. The server was distracted and very difficult to get the attention of in order to return our food, have water refills, etc. Overall, a very disappointing experience!

This was probably my 15th visit to Promenade, but I won’t be coming back. My partner and I love burgers, and were looking forward to eating them. In the past, we enjoyed the Manitoba beef burger, and the bison burger when they were offered. Sadly, on this visit, the burgers were served sliced in half and placed on a bowl of gravy. The gravy was room temperature, not warm at all. The burger patty was heavily processed and very salty. I sent the burger back, explaining my disappointment, and they remade it, but unfortunately my message did not get through because I received the burger over gravy again when I just wanted a regular burger. At least the gravy was hot this time. The server was lovely, but the food disappointing. Our friends thought their food was good, but not great. I have fond memories of this place, but will not be back. If you want to offer distinctive burgers, then you should describe them as such in the menu, or risk disappointing your burger-loving patrons.

Were just seated and given menus and were asked at same time what we wanted to drink, so felt rushed on arrival. Server appeared inexperienced, so was glad server for other tables noticed when our water was low, our first drinks were finished, etc. Service was inconsistent. First G&T came without lime, second came with two slices.
Mains were salty and very garlicky, meat was overwhelmed by these two additions.
Sunset and table location saved the evening.

Food changed dramatically from previous visits. Used to be one of our top breakfast places but won’t be going back. Meals were served with a HUGE amount of mashed potatoes (which used to be fried). Food was cold and eggs were not cooked as asked. You now have to pay $1 to have jam with your toast. Sausage was dry, a weird texture and taste, not edible. We politely let the waitress know we were disappointed, there was no kind of discount or apology from the kitchen/management. Obviously they are not interested in what their customers think or their experiences. It was $82 (3 ppl) for one of the worst breakfasts! Also, the seating was horrible. No padding on the chairs which were torn and stained. Sitting on a piece of old wood.
The only good part was the waitress, very friendly, apologetic and great service.

After spending so much time not able to dine out with family, what a joy to finally have dinner at the Promenade Café on July 8th for my husband’s 80th birthday. We were joined with two other family couples (one couple celebrating their 44th anniversary.) The service, the food, the patio, the wine, were perfect. Even the suggested wine choice was excellent. We will definitely be back. Again, our waitress was excellent.

This place is a Hidden gem! Our server, Signe, was excellent. We phoned at the last minute to add 2 more to our reservation, they didn’t even blink an eye. Thank-you. Oh and the food…perfect. From the appetizer to the dessert, and the main in between, you are in for a surprise!
