The food was excellent (Sunday lunch). The service was great and all the staff were polite and friendly. The ambience was lovely. We would definitely come again and would recommend the restaurant to our family and friends. The only thing I have issue with is is the automatic adding of 12.5% service charge to the bill. I would have gladly left a 10% tip (voluntarily, at my discretion) but I would have liked to have chosen to do this rather than it be added to the bill already. By adding it automatically, it just makes your prices feel like 12.5% higher, and a 12.5% uplift on an already expensive bottle of wine, for example, is a lot. Please don't take this the wrong way - the service was excellent and I would have definitely left a 10% tip, but I'd have felt better if I had chosen to do this myself. Thanks

Hi Katherine. Glad you enjoyed your meal. The menu does state, that the 12.5% service charge is discretionary. Any guest can ask for it to be removed, and apply their own gratuities if they wish. Thanks for coming in.

Wow! What an incredible dining experience. This unassuming country pub hides a world class chef and menu. We had a fantastic, laid back lunch (lovely staff) which we won’t forget. The food was phenomenal. It was well worth the 40+ mile drive to get there. We’ll be back!

Really lovely place. Unassuming and unpretentious. Staff welcoming. Good friendly vibe. Our only minor niggle was cutlery. I would have preferred a fish knife for the fish. Dessert came with just a spoon, and when we asked for a dessert fork were given a huge dining fork. We didn't make a fuss and were bemused more than anything else, as we tucked into the delicious marmalade bread and butter pudding like two happy bears. We will definitely go again as it was a very enjoyable experience.

We booked a table at The Silks having seen Thomas Frake win the Masterchef Champion of Champions competition and although we live 90 miles away we'll certainly be back. We'll also recommend the Silks to friends and family. The food was delicious and well presented - it was the best pub food we've ever had. The service and the ambience were also first class. Before our meal we followed the route of one of the walks shown on the website and it was delightful.

The ambience was marked down due to a man on a nearby table who continually laughed so loudly it was painful. I know this was out of your control but we did have a job to talk to each other. Meeting the boss was a stand out moment. Lovely man. The bar staff were super too. Food delicious. My friend was still talking about the bread and butter pudding as we walked around the shops of Marlborough!

So glad we finally made the effort to visit to celebrate a birthday rather than drive past! It was the perfect venue and the food was excellent - we knew we were in trouble when we realised we would happily eat everything off the menu. Thank you so much for our lovely meals last Sunday afternoon. My family were visiting which was already a great occasion but I would like to sincerely thank you and highly compliment the Chef for making it one of the best afternoons we've enjoyed together. The service and atmosphere were lovely. The food was not what we had expected. We went there having seen the master chef champion of champions. There were very few chips. The sprig of greenery was just a token. Also I when I booked the form asked if it was a special occasion. It was. It is my birthday on 9 February and it was our 50th wedding anniversary last week on the 31st January. We were celebrating, at our suggestion, at The Silks, with my sister and brother in law. Nothing was said about these special occasions. Why do you ask the question if you are not going to mention it or give some sort of token to mark the occasion. Although the food was nice we thought the menu was limited. I wrote to the Silks when I got home.

Incredible evening at The Silks, and it completely lived up to our expectations. Impeccable service began when the front door was opened for us, and continued throughout the whole meal, with nothing too much trouble for the amazing staff. The food was faultless and very reasonably priced, and everything chosen was delicious. All in all, a brilliant night, and the crowning glory to an already stunning occasion, was when Chef visited our table for a brief chat about our experience. We will DEFINITELY be back!!

We really enjoyed our visit from start to finish!! We made quite a detour to come for Sunday lunch and we are so pleased we did! We received a lovely welcome from the bar staff. The service was excellent throughout and nothing was too much trouble. We had fabulous roast beef and lots delicious vegetables ,everything was so beautifully cooked and tasty. We have to admit the Yorkshire pudding was fantastic-and we are from Yorkshire !! This was our first experience of the Silks. It's wonderful to have such a friendly, local pub serving such excellent food. Sam and Isabel were friendly and attentive and despite being the last in the pub, by some margin I think, did not put us under pressure to leave...we could have stayed longer and will certainly return!

We booked Silks Christmas lunch and it was absolutely lovely. We were a party of 15 including a little boy and were given a table in a seperate room from the main dining area. The room was beautifully decorated and we had our own Christmas tree making it very festive. Shannen greated us together with the other staff and hats off to them all for being professional, friendly and very attentive. The drinks and food were all delicious and service fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble and our young family member was also very well looked after. We used to come every Saturday for a family lunch but this sadly stopped when Covid hit us all. We will definitely be coming to Silks now in the future. The place is spotlessly clean and I cannot recommend it enough for quality of food, lovely staff and great ambience. Many thanks to Shannen and the lovely staff at The Silks and hope you all have a Happy Christmas!

We often pass The Silks, meaning to drop in for dinner and we’re so glad that we finally did! The interior is warm and inviting with a pleasant atmosphere. The menu has an interesting variety of dishes with most of the ingredients sourced locally, a huge plus in our view. Most of all, we noted the dishes were obviously freshly prepared to order.. This chef clearly loves to cook, takes pride in his work and is not just banging out dishes for the masses. The staff were friendly and efficient, and overall everything was excellent value for money. We will be back soon !

What a gem of a pub. The food was delicious and beautifully presented with a lovely cosy atmosphere. Our server was so helpful and kind. The service was a touch slow but we were in no hurry so not an issue. We will definitely be back thank you a great time.

I booked here purely after hearing Thomas is the chef…the food was stunning! Booking for Christmas next, with a couple of visits beforehand I expect. My go to pub now. Lovely pub set in a beautiful, convenient location, ambience and design inviting and spotless. Thank you to Thomas and his team.

We stayed over at the silks , the room was cosy and had everything we needed. We ate 3 courses on the Saturday night and thoroughly enjoyed it all. My partner and daughter rated the calamari the best they had ever had. We had a chat with chef Tom after, as we had followed and supported him through to his masterchef win, lovely guy. His staff were great , plenty of banter and attention. Will definitely go again when we are in the area 5 star !

Everything was wonderful, food and vibe wise. Service was good, excellent lady server, the younger male server's service could be improved as he provided misinformation a couple of times, though had a kind demeanor and did not effect the overall 11/10 best eating experience so far this year!!!!!

We had a lovely meal celebrating our 12th wedding anniversary, the staff were friendly and welcoming.. The menu although small had enough choice to suit everyone. We had a very tasty scotch egg and chicken croquet to start, for mains we had steak with new potatoes and a caesar salad with a side order of beef dripping chips…. All tasted amazing would highly recommend to everyone and we will definitely return :)

The food as always was excellent however, having to order vegetables separately adds considerably to the cost which can be off putting. Also there is a very limited range of vegetable options especially for someone like me who doesn't eat potato. Having said that we love the Silks and will continue to visit. The staff are always friendly and helpful.
