A Paint Your Own Pottery & Wheel Throwing Studio! Paint and design pre-made forms with glaze or acrylic. We can teach you how to make something on the pottery wheel too! Sign up for classes and events like pottery wheel, ladies nights, themed events, and camps under the classes, camps and events calendar menu option.
Kiln firing for liquid and food safety (we do not fire outside works). Acrylic paint for fun and decoration. Canvas classes, kids classes, adult classes and events.

Potteristas explain techniques, ideas, and specialty materials. Average paint time is 1.5 to 2 hours. Closing time is strict at 7pm Wed-Sat or 4pm on Sunday. Projects not finished by close are paid for and sent home as Work in Progress.

Frequently Asked Questions
Often asked! No we are not a restaurant. While we do use table agent for our booking system and that is a service mainly used by restaurants. This booking system will morph to encompass and clarify it's wide scope of business not in the food industry. Outside of pandemic we will one day again offer snacks and treats for hungry painters.
While we try to cater to walk-ins, with high traffic days and weekends throughout the year we have chosen to HIGHLY RECOMMEND RESERVATIONS especially on weekends and during holiday seasons.
Depends on the person and the project. Detailed and larger projects may need more time. Kids ages 3-12 up to 1 hour. Adults who are more crafty may need 1.5 hours or even several trips in.
Paint Your Own Pottery Project take 2 weeks. Wet Clay projects like Pottery Wheel & Handbuilding take 3-4 weeks due to during & double firing. We will notify you according to the information left on your registration form. Xmas Trees and classes can take 3 weeks. We know you don't really want to see Halloween pottery at the end of summer, but it is necessary for us to stock and begin any holiday painting to adjust for kiln firing and turn around time needed. :)
Over the past 10years we have tried to solve this mystery. It baffles us too. A couple of causes-- A. Your cellphone was in a place with no service at the time we sent a text message. B. We use Apple products and messaging systems may not be compatible with other cellphone brands. We really want you to have your pottery! Feel free to reach out! Also, there is no shame in picking up an item from extended stay. However we do donate items after multiple messages & 90 days.
Yes! The owners are very skilled at making and teaching pottery wheel. You may hear this refferred to as "Throwing" or "Wheel Throwing" Please sign up online with pre-payment from our website at www.pigeonhenpottery.com. Pottery wheel is available mid January through end of October.
We might be full. Unfortunately we haven't been able to resolve a better way to communicate through the rsvp system that all tables have been taken. You can call us at 574-360-3868 to see if there have been any no shows, cancellations or to be placed on our waitlist. During holidays like Valentines Day we are seeing customers make reservations far in advance. You can make a reservation 30 days in advance or 30 minutes in advance if we have availability.

My daughter and I enjoyed going to paint. The ladies were nice and helpful. My daughter enjoyed the candy machine for a snack while painting. It was a calming time to be able to have fun, talk, and be creative with our paintings. We had a good time!

The staff is wonderful! Owners and gals alike are so friendly, knowledge and encouraging. I love that my friend and I are known by name and pretty much have a set seating area because we're there so often. My daughter and I had a nice relaxing time. We had booked the day prior but we received a call stating they had to close for a water leak. The following day when we came in the manager asked if we were the ones that booked yesterday. We said yes and she gave us 2-3.00 off coupons for our inconvenience. It’s a lovely place, helpful staff, they check in with you but just the right amount, paints available are a wide selection with a very slight uncharge for special ones ($1 extra per selection). We went, 3 adults, there 3 hours, reservations on line worked great, we each did one item with some special paints added, cost $112.00, divided by 3 that’s not bad for entertainment for 3 hours. You don’t have to be artesy to make something look good. Prices on pottery pieces range $25 to about $70, some special paints are $1 per color, some $3 per color. There are some pieces to choose very fun for kids. Wished they would have had spoon rests and pie plates to choose. We did a coffee mug, a small table bowl (sit fruit out on your table), and a dolphin coin bank.

I brought my granddaughter to the Pigeon and the Hen. It was her second visit there. We had a really nice time and everyone was very friendly! My granddaughter, who’s just learn to read this year loved the ambience and watching other people paint. I love that there was enough room on the table to space out so you weren’t listening to each other’s conversations necessarily. It was an “experience” type type of girl’s day out! It was a fun event to share with my granddaughter. It seemed pricey for an evening, though. We didn't eat or drink anything, and the evening still cost almost $80
