Down by the San Carlos beach on the edge of the pier, sits Osteria Al Mare (Restaurant at the sea, in Italian). Come enjoy the beautiful pier, sea lions, and the taste of the old country.
All of our ingredients are locally sourced and are as fresh as could be found. While our menu does change to reflect the freshest of ingredients, we offer such stables as Fritto Di Calamari, Stinco di Maiale alla Birra (beer braised pork shank) and our Pan-seared salmon. These items Maurizio perfected in Italy more than 30 years ago.

We have been here several times and enjoyed are experiences but this time you all exceeded them all! The dinner specials were outstanding and having Rotella de Parma and the pear filled pillow pasta appetizers were to die for. 3 of the 4 of us had your specials and were all executed outstandingly. Loved the service and the views- can’t wait to return. Keep doing what you’re doing. Love you guys.

We had a lovely time at Osteria Al Mare! Our server was so lovely and brought our puppy water to drink. We were seated outside with a gorgeous view of the ocean.
The kitchen was very accommodating when we asked about dishes that weren’t on the menu (but had been on the menu before). My husband ordered a lasagna dish that was beautifully presented and very delicious. I ordered based on our server’s recommendation and I’m so glad I did! The tagliatelle was spectacular.
They also brought out a complimentary ice cream dessert for our anniversary which was so tasty. This restaurant really made our occasion feel special, and I highly recommend you come here!

Everything about this place is great. The ambiance is wonderful. The service is top tier. You can tell they care about your experience. The food! The food is incredible. Having grown up in a very traditional Italian family I know Italian food, and this is simply some of the best.

Everything was amazing. Our waiter went above and beyond by hand-making blue cheese olives for our martinis since they did not have any at the bar. All of the staff is attentive and very nice. Everyone seems to be happy that you are there and work hard to make sure your experience is excellent. Which it was! We had a birthday girl and the staff came out and gave her a tiramisu and sang happy birthday. The food was excellent and everyone agreed that we will be back. Thank you for such a special and outstanding dining experience!

As always, Osteria did not disappoint. The service was great, the food delicious, and overall, we had a great time. This has not changed over the last several years we have visited. It was a little warm in the dining area, and the flies were a bit pesky, but that did not ruin our evening. As the sun started to set, the cool breeze was welcoming, and the flies went to bed. Great spot owner is awesome truly passionate about his craft. Staff was attentive quick and cheery. Osteria Al Mare is true Italian food. From the simple elegance of the decor, friendly welcoming from the staff, great service and outstanding Italian food. Every time I go there it is like going back to Italy again.

This is a lovely Italian restaurant. I felt like we were back in Italy and we liked our visit so much we changed dinner plans and returned for a second night. Amazingly good food superbly presented, with professional, friendly hosts.

Had a good experience at the restaurant. It was odd at first as it took a longer than you would expect to get someone to take our order for drinks and our starter. After that, everything went smoothly The food was was excellent and overall we had a nice evening.

This is a superb Italian restaurant right on the wharf in Monterey. There’s plenty of parking, as it’s a smaller wharf off the main one. Delicious authentic Italian food, and great service. Beautiful views too.

Osteria al Mare never disappoints. It is the only waterfront restaurant in Monterey which has consistently excellent food and service. Avoid the tourist traps! Dine at the Osteria!
