Dining at the Angus is an informal affair. The Angus Hotel is a great place in Blairgowrie to eat out. The Hotel has The Bay Tree Bar and Restaurant to the front of the hotel. The Bay Tree offers a traditional dining experience.

There is a new large modern and airy buffet style area with an outdoor terrace to the rear. The Jutemills Restaurant serves buffet breakfast every day, lunch and dinners for large groups and entertainment events.

The style of food at the Angus is modern yet true to the Hotels highland heritage. The type of dishes on the menu range from Scottish landed haddock and home cooked chips to braised scotch lamb shank with mash. Dining is all day, and from 10-5pm lounge service offers coffee and cake along with a full Scottish Afternoon Tea.

The hotel is open all year round and welcomes local diners and groups with reservations. During the months of October to June most weekends host entertainment nights, and details can be found online.

2 main courses ordered. One Mac n cheese, tiny portion , absolutely bland no flavour. One mushroom risotto, portion size was ok but again bland , absolutely no flavour. Did tell our server our thoughts at the time. Staff all very nice but that was about the highlight of our meal.

Starter’s frozen in middle and sent back twice, couldn’t believe they put chocolate on a trifle sponge finger to pass for a cake and breakfast on the first morning there was a lot less choice than the second as the chef said she was on herself and didn’t have time (management’s fault as far as I’m concerned)

I felt that the checking in and out system was not required. There were no shields up in bar or reception. Booking pool and meals before arrival was good! Most of our dining experience was good,however on our last breakfast the service was really bad! We had to wait 40minutes to get tea etc and had to bring their attention to this. I have been at this hotel before and had no problems so don't know if problem was staffing or obviously the current times with covid 19. I would however return and see if things were better.

Room was great but our only criticism was the music from reception & the restaurant below was too loud & went straight through the ceiling into our room & was really annoying. Needs an upgrade , Staff were nice , I was charged for a bottle of wine which I did not have however was quickly sorted on checkout , Food was dissapointing , over cooked noodles but I ate it as I was hungry , Pillows in room were awful so didn't get a good night's sleep , I asked for the heating to be looked at as room was freezing , Staff member had a look whilst we were at dinner however when we went back to the room it was blowing cold air so just switched it off, Uncomfortable night to say the least .

Booked for lunch. Sat at a reserved table. A very rude man abruptly started removing menus and cutlery from our table and when asked if this was reserved for someone else, he thrust the reserved sign in my face. We promptly left without having lunch and will never be back. Avoid this place if you don't want to be made to feel unwanted!

I think the hotel is making huge improvements etc but as a business you have to ensure that guests are the priority 2hrs late into rooms etc has to be rectified and not reception telling everyone to chill out and they will get it sorted When going on a supposed relaxing break !!

Booked a 2 night tribute stay for friends 50th. We enjoyed our stay, hotel is in a lovely location, tribute night was good entertainment and we loved the spa area. Meal the first night was fine. There was some flaws which did not spoil our stay in any way, rooms dated and needing some maintenance, check in experience was a bit annoying having to check in via iPad, felt this lacked the personal touch. My biggest disappointment was the food at tribute night, salad starter was more like a small garnish, for main I ordered vegetable moussaka and got cous cous with a grain stew which tasted awful. Please inform customers if there is a change to menu, we understand there can be issues with supplies etc, but to be provided with a meal that was nothing like what I ordered was frustrating and for others more importantly they may have allergies that prevents them from eating certain foods rtc. I changed to the chicken and it was fine. Others ordered slow cooked lamb and got a lamb burger, guest at our table were disappointed at this. However we soon forgot about the food after dancing away the night to the excellent tribute music. Breakfast was very enjoyable, minor points big queue for toaster and ran out of pastries etc 1st morning, all fine and well replenished the next morning. Really enjoyed the fresh fruit salad and warm pastries delicious. Overall an enjoyable stay, excellent value for money so can forgive some of our niggles.

Room lovely pool area lovely evening dinners were diabolical dried up first night second night chips were supposed to be chunky more like a mass on the plate beef in steak pie cold served on cold plates think it was more catered for bus loads who are in and out again not even any piped music in bar or lounge defiantly wasn't worth the money we paid for it no continental breakfast 'no cold meats or fresh fruit Sunday morning toaster broken couldn't get toast but the chef was really nice and made me a piece of glutton free toast which I didn't really like all in all it was a terrible weekend in hotel because if we had been for another night it would have been the chip shop across the road and by the way for all the holidays we have had at home and abroad I have never ever complained but felt this was justified here

More communication required where meals are to be served, our party stood in breakfast area waiting to be served dinner on first night. Staff moving around but no one came to ask if they could help, albeit they New this was not the area we should have been in. After standing for a good 5/10 mins, we asked at the bar and were directed to the correct area. Also concerns regarding cleaning of tables in the bar/lounge area. Glasses and tables left uncleared for hours. Cleaned table ourselves with own anti- bacterial wipes before we could sit down for a drink.

Room was poor, clearly the window had been left open and some flooding occurred, curtain still all yellow and stained, screws sticking out of bath panel, mastic messy and peeling, radiator leaking. Staff pleasant but not overly chatty as we are used to. A tub of cream left in a drawer. Didn’t get my facial as hoped. First night had to ask when our meal was coming as we waited a while, second night some of our choices unavailable, but did enjoy food and breakfast. Would have booked and paid for tribute night if we could have had our meals first and third night, feel hotel lost a fair bit of money as we would then have eaten three nights in hotel instead of two! Extra bottle of wine and no doubt several drinks! The swimming pool was Baltic, jacuzzi out of service, hydrotherapy water shoot didn’t work. Overall wasn’t great

First time at the Angus Hotel, staying for 3 nights. First morning no hot water. Evening meal - took one and a half hours to serve 2 courses. Second night evening meal - one hour from ordering to receive main course, service extremely slow and spasmodic. Third evening ate out to avoid having to wait too long again. Used the spa on third day and enjoyed the experience. Staff were polite and courteous but my guess is the kitchen is seriously understaffed leading to degradation of the food quality. Sound quality of the tv in the bedroom was very poor, couldn't make out what people were saying. No complaints about the twin room we had apart from no hot water on first morning.

The staff were nice and helpful ,the rooms need some maintenance work to them but the rest of the hotel looks good especially the big breakfast/function room and the swimming pool area, overall the wife and I had a nice time at the hotel.

We had a relaxing 2 nights and the hotel was very nice and the service was good. The only thing that we didn’t like was the shower in our bathroom which was very old and the water pressure was poor.

We had an evening meal and due to it being the busy Easter weekend there were some items not available but the fish and steak pie were both tender and tasty. The staff were still professional and spent time to describe any queries we had (I wanted the mussels which were not available). Service with a smile was very much appreciated.

The staff were very friendly and helpful at the Angus. I was very impressed with the reception staff who were always there to help. I enjoyed the spa very much in particular the steam room and pool. The food was very good however I couldn’t make breakfast due to an early start so I was offered the continental breakfast but there was no croissants or bread available to make toast. Not a complaint just a point to consider for future. Coffee machine was amazing with overly hot coffee!!

Had 3 courses and they were lovely starter of haggis was delicious I ordered what I thought was a bolognaise style pasta for main and it was more like a stew but I was able to eat it. Chocolate Torte for dessert was small but really rich service was good although some of the items on the menu when asked for explanation the server didn't know what they were I thought the menu was good value and contained plenty of choice with only a few items unavailable. The restaurant was busy but we didn't wait king to be served our food. Overall a pleasant experience which we would repeat

Self service check in that had more than a few teething problems. Room was small but adequate. Bathroom was dated and in bad condition , tiles cracked , plumbing poor( taps all very stiff) . No wine in room as in booking. Dinner was awful. A £17.95 surf and turf consisted of a tiny piece of over cooked steak, two cherry tomatoes, six prawns ( not king prawns as on menu) in a ramekin and a spoon of macaroni in a ramekin. I don’t have the biggest appetite but this is very poor. Breakfast was self service, but food was not cooked properly either undercooked or overdone. Lots of unhappy guests. I would not return. I will add that all staff were helpful even if they were apologetic most of the time.

think you need to update your changing rooms for the swimming. also think the jacuzzi is a bit dangerous getting out as thd Stairs are slippy. better to have steps leading into it rather than a wee set off ladders. also your website says you can book in at 2pm and we had to wait till 3pm so think that's a We bit unfair an hour wasted out off our day.

Had to ask for our drinks 3 times, my steak pie was a ladle of over cooked beef that was very dry with a piece of flaky crust stuck on top, it had never seen a pie dish.

Lovely stay . Good value for money . Afternoon tea was nice and fresh . Dinner was very good with big helpings . Only criticism was breakfast . Loads of choice but the hot food was lukewarm ( doubt it would pass food safety standards ) . Spa is one of the best I've been in and the staff were lovely . I would certainly go again .

Afternoon tea was lovely although maybe an offer of more tea/coffee would be appreciated, resteraunt food was good and nicely presented, but miss steak pie from the menu, have stayed many times and noticed staff customer service has improved a lot, rooms ok for the price and leisure centre great except for steps in hot tub a bit precarious could do with one extra step on the outside a bit higher up so easier to get in, steps inside very narrow too,and railing a bit wobbly, dessert plates scraping noise when eating very annoying, maybe some background music in the restraunt would help, car park at rear much improved too

Staff friendly and efficient. Good variety and quality of food but felt portions were rather small for the price. Caesar salad was ,whilst being very tasty could have had a bit more colour by adding something like tomato so that it didn't appear so bland. However, overall, quite a pleasant evening .
