Unfortunately, we’ve seen a rise in no-shows - bookings where guests don’t attend and don’t cancel. As a small business, this has a real impact, especially when tables are held and other guests are turned away.

I would merely suggest that the chip portions with the fish and chips is excessive even for an hungry man! Such a waste of food. We were not the only customers who experienced this. Perhaps a slightly scaled down serving?

Cockle popcorn is amazing ! The mains menu had interesting dishes that we hadn't had before ( delicious) and they had even put up a banner for my husband's birthday :) Watching the sunset over the sea was an added bonus but I've been coming to Cromer for over 60 years and it is always wonderful .

Fantastic restaurant. Half the party went with the classic Fish and Chips form downstairs, which was brilliant. Others picked from the wider menu. Highlights included a lovely Seafood Chowder and a Cromer crab salad. All seafood was fresh and delicious and portions were really generous. We had a lovely view from our table and staff were lovely. Would highly recommend!

We really like going to Upstairs at No 1. The food's excellent, reasonably priced and the restaurant has a super view. The service is friendly and quick. If I was picky, I'd say the music's a bit loud at the west end of the restaurant and it'd be helpful if the booking app allowed a request for a window table, but those are very minor quibbles about something that's always a treat.

For us, this is simply the best dining experience to be had in Cromer. We have lunch there every week. The friendly service and superb seafood is what creates the lasting impression, together with the unrivalled sea view. Visiting No 1 has become an essental part of our life since relocating to Norfolk. Not really capable of improvement. Please don't change anything.

All the food was delicious. We both had scallops as starters cooked to perfection. Main courses we had monkfish wrapped in panacheta and sea bream. Both cooked perfectly. No room left for puddings. All the staff were polite attentive and knowledgeable. We even had Galton come to our table for a chat. Excellent PR. Will be back soon.

We had a lovely meal. The location overlooking the beach and pier made the meal even better. The food was delicacies and offered a great choice for people with mixed tastes. My husband liked the more traditional options while I loved the more fine dining options. We would definitely recommend people to go there for a meal. 6th visit to No1 Upstairs. Always excellent this time no exception. The smoked fish starter was excellent the main course haddock was cooked to perfection and the batter light crispy. Too big a portion to be able to find room for a desert. In the previous visits I ordered oyster starters which have been shucked very well. Not the normal GBH you get elsewhere. The no1 pale ale matches the food perfectly. Cost was reasonable.

I organised a lunchtime reunion of 11 persons, all retired Met. Police Officers, who attended from all parts of the South of England. Our first visit (following the Cromer Pier Show matinee) and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. A starter from the specials (chilli squid) was light and crispy and a generous portion. My main of Lobster Thermidor was delicious and not (as lobster sometimes is) a disappointment. Served with lovely crisp chips and a salad. My husband’s crab and lobster linguine was also very good. Prices are reasonable for the quality of the food. We’d definitely recommend.

We were a party of seven, service was excellent throughout, food and drink arrived in a timely manner. Cheerful attentive staff and, without exception the food was very good. All in all a very enjoyable evening. The restaurant continues to improve. Highly recommended.

The monkfish was wonderful and the veg cooked perfectly as was the sauce. Only thing was you were a bit tight with the sauted potatoes. Cockle popcorn was also great even though I'd never seen such small cockles!!

Staff were very good. There was a fair haired girl wearing glasses who was giving recommendation to a neighbouring table about puddings. Little things like that stand out. Friendly service, excellent food. Portion size great, no room for pudding for me. Toilets were very clean. Really nice evening
