We were given the tip off to try Batanga by a friend and it was well worth the visit, the food was excellent and staff were very friendly, this isn’t a top class restaurant but basic cheap good food made fresh it’s not the easiest to find but well worth going. We will next time we are in York. Also I may be worth booking to guarantee a table

Solid 10/10. Great serving staff in a compact but cosy setting. Menu was a good variety and with a superb cocktail menu. The food was VERY good. Having just come back from Mexico City and Puerto Vallarta I was craving an authentic experience and this hit the spot. Just needed some Mole! Prices were very fair for the quality and portion served. Look forward to. Visiting again when I'm back in York.

Went for a meal with our son and grandson (they had been before and recommended it). We all loved our meals and were very glad we had eaten there. The quality was excellent and the prices were so reasonable (for drinks too). I had tacos and corn dip with homemade tortillas, I particularly liked the tacos being small so you can try 2 or 3 different ones. Meals are cooked at the end of the room which I love. The only thing I am disappointed about is that it is in York and we live in Consett! Will be back On our next visit for sure.

The sign indicating where the restaurant was could have been better and more obvious especially since the sign was in a place with lots of foot traffic and people. Felt like if it had been any busier on that street might have missed it. Felt slightly weird when we first walked in as there was no one else there and no music was playing. But as soon as we were seated, that was quickly remedied and the rest of the experience was amazing. The food was to die for and the prices were more than reasonable especially when it came to the price of the cocktails. If I had to critique one thing when it came to the food it would be to offer more vegetarian options but as it is a small business I do understand it needing to be a smaller menu. Overall very happy with the experience and will definitely be coming back next time we're in York.
