First time at the pale. What a gem we loved everything about it. Food was fantastic lovely wine. And the staff are fantastic. And when the main man visits every table. His passion is clear. We will be back.

went for a meal for the first time to the Pale. Excellent food, very friendly service and we will definatly visit again very soon. The only one thing we found was that it was a little cold in the resteraunt ,but it may be because it was early evening and possibly would be a bit warmer later in the evening and when there were more diners filling the room.

Lovely evening celebrating our wedding anniversary, off to a slow start as they were very busy and first drink order was a while being taken. As soon as we mentioned that, steps were taken to recover the situation and it was then a great evening. The food is excellent, really tasty and that bit different for Lincoln Delighted that they have won an award and so pleased to see Robbie's amazing food getting the recognition it deserves

We found The Pale by accident whilst in Lincoln for work. We drove by and thought it looked interesting, we were not disappointed! The staff were so helpful about the menu. It is not a huge menu but in our view that’s a good thing. The scallops and chowder were delicious. It was so good we went back the next night and we were welcomed like old friends. Again the staff were so lovely. We even found the speakeasy afterwards for a post dinner cocktail! Fab!!

The service was excellent. Offered a choice of free table water with either ice, lemon or cucumber as we sat down. We also ordered cocktails which were very nice. The waiter informed us of some items that weren't on the menu. Unfortunately one of those were what I had wanted to order. Not such a problem though as there is a good enough selection to choose an alternative. A decent wine list and yes we did have wine which we also enjoyed. We only ate a starter and main. We would have liked to had a desert but we ordered an extra side of seasonal vegetables and onion rings and didn't leave room for a desert. I will say that the onion rings were homemade and out of this world and probably worth missing the desert for. This is a small independent restaurant and well worth a visit. We like supporting local businesses and will be back again in the not too distant future.

Very good service friendly and welcoming front of house. Starters - scallops and octopus and desserts- stout pudding were excellent. Not a complaint just observations: the cabbage/kale in the cullcanon was raw, tough and very stalky as was the not so tender stem brocoli and the odd raw carrot. The sausages were nothing special, quite flavourless. Good gravy. As I've said not complaints or they would have been mentioned on the night. A pleasant evening, but not as polished as we had hoped.

The food was delightful - well cooked and presented. We found the table surface sticky and the seating hard and uncomfortable after 30 minutes or so. Bread and Guinness was expensive.

Ambience and staff were great, food however, we thought could be improved. We ordered the mussels, which should have been cooked with thyme, however they were cooked with rosemary, which overpowered the whole dish, we also ordered the plaice, which was a very small fillet, which would have benefitted from a little more sauce and a bigger fillet. The starters were just ok. Good luck!
