Proper pub.
Everything was great, the staff were attentive, the food (we had Sunday Lunch) was absolutely wonderful, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, dogs are allowed which was one of the reasons for our visit.
I would recommend that if your going to eat here book in advance as it is a busy pub which is fabulous, we highly recommend a visit.

Not been to the chequers for a long while. The booking system is easy to use. Meal is the best I’ve had in a long time so well done to the chef! We had fillet steak and chocolate brownie for dessert. Steak was cooked to perfection. I personally would have liked a little bit of greenery on the plate eg salad leaves etc to make it look less bland. Otherwise it was delicious. The brownie was the best I’ve tasted. Will book again

Everything was good. The only problem I had was on the app I wasn’t aware you had to select the gin and then the dash of tonic separately when you ordered. It would be easier if it had a note on there telling you that or if it allowed you to add it on whenever you chose gin. However, despite this everything was lovely and the food and drinks were very nice.
