We enjoyed an evening at Bowleys restaurant for our wedding anniversary. We wanted somewhere special to celebrate the occasion and it didn't disappoint. The service was outstanding with the head waiter talking us through our Taster menu dishes as they came to us and then spoke about the wine that came to compliment the dish. We enjoys all the dishes and was happy with the variety within the taster menu. The staff was very good and never left us waiting.
The choice of exclusive to Plough Inn local Kent wine was also a bonus and delicious. We would definitely go again to try out more of the menu. Thank you for a great evening.

Three of the four of us had roast beef, one had roast chicken. The roast beef was cooked to our liking in each case, and was absolutely delicious. The roast potatoes were among the best we’ve ever eaten outside our own homes. Tasty gravy. Yorkshire puddings a little burnt but still mainly edible. Could have done with more veg!
Pear pud and chocolate pud nice enough.
Service was pretty good after the first hitch of our sitting at our table waiting to be given a menu (lunch had been booked in advance)….
Pretty expensive overall for what it was; there is a fair bit of competition in the larger area in which we choose to eat out.

I have already given feedback to the chef in person and by email. We were both underwhelmed with the food. My rabbit starter was uneventful, the main course of pithivier was one of the worst meals I've ever had and the mousse dessert was solid. The cod however was delicious. Perhaps it was just a bad day or perhaps the establishment is aspiring to a standard it can't meet. In any event, given the normal good reviews, it promised far more than it delivered.

Didn’t get off to a good start because our usually very contented baby was crying and we were asked to move into the bar. He soon settled and slept for the rest of the time.
Felt the fish starter and main were too similar and did not like the grapefruit on the starter . Loved both deserts.
Would have preferred to have petit fours with coffee rather than with bill.
Although we had to move tables, our meal was delayed but we were not rushed
On the reservation was asked if special occasion and said it was both our birthdays but was not acknowledged
But overall, a lovely little restaurant, nicely furnished and spacious. Food really good, well executed and delicious
Looking forward to returning without the baby!

We dined at Bowley's with 2 of our friends who live in Trottiscliffe. The 2 of us live in Crawley. The food was excellent. The service was very good apart from one member of the serving staff. We do not know his name.....a tall guy. He was very stern and unsmiling and argued with one member of our party about the starter that he had ordered. The amuse bouche was a nice touch, however we were not told what was on the platter when it was served to us. It transpired that the balls were meat. We do not eat meat or poultry so our friends ate the 4 meatballs. When the platter was taken away our friend asked what the dip and the other item was. They turned out to be smoked butter and aioli. We had been asked if any of us had any allergies - but as we did not know that we would be getting an amuse bouche we had not thought to say at that point that 2 of us did not eat meat or poultry.

This was not our first visit and I have to say it was the best meal yet. Came with friends on Thursday lunchtime and had a wonderful dining experience. Every course fresh, beautifully presented and tasted divine. Nothing too much trouble. The Plough seems to have adjusted the portion sizes since our last visit and it represents great value for money. The new addition of the box of chocolates at the end of the meal was a lovely surprise. We are lucky to have such a nice fine dining restaurant so close by.

As the ONLY ones in the whole restaurant, lunchtime ambience was strange, but expected. Service was good and not 'in your face', though as we didn't want wine or water, those glasses should have been removed. Food was outstanding!

Lovely greeting as we entered the premises. Very comfortable and cozy interior, toilets impeccably clean. The Sunday lunch was delicious and the service was friendly and attentive. Will definitely be visiting again to try the tasting menu.

Excellent lunch. The lunch set menu is excellent value, a la carte is a bit pricey but the quality of cooking is high.
Really interesting wine list, attentive staff that are very engaged in what they're doing down there.
