We have lots of gluten free and dairy free options on our menu. We also have dishes that can be adapted to gluten free or dairy free, but aren't usually gluten or dairy free. Please let us know when you are booking and also tell your server when ordering.
Dogs are very welcome at our restaurant. We seat owners and their dogs in the bar area of our restaurant. It is the same menu too.
We love doing lunches for pre-booked groups or for tour groups. Please do ask us if you would like to book

Gorgeous hotel with old world charm and lovely peaceful location. The dining room was neither busy nor dead quiet on a midweek evening - perfect ambience for dinner for our group of four. Food was excellent especially the scallops, the seared salmon and the lamb. Only 8/10 for food due to falafels being bland and too mushy and the pavlova dessert being over meringued - not enough fruit.

Always a pleasure to dine at the Rowan Tree! The food was excellent and the only faults I can make are the location of the table (which I appreciate was last minute and you were very busy) and the comfort on the chair! We found it difficult to have a conversation. everything going on in the bar is in the ear of the person sat facing the wall as the open door provides a direct line, and the person against the wall in the corner cannot be heard over it without talking loudly enough to annoy the people on the other side!! I think the chair seats may need some upholstering or bigger cushions. However - these are small problems and table specific. Food was excellent, staff efficient and prices appropriate. We struggled to find a restaurant open on a tuesday evening in January. Our meal at the Rowan Tree was of high quality and delicious & the staff were friendly helpful and knowledgeable. We had the kids chicken dippers plus mushroom gnocchi & sweet potato soup to start with the fish fingers, venison casserole & supreme of chicken with black pudding mousse. We have been visiting Aviemore for over 20 years and despite wanting to, have never eaten here before as have always passed it on the way to or from somewhere. The experience was more than worth the wait. Staff were welcoming and friendly, service was great and the food - well.... one of the nicest meals we have eaten here. Presentation, taste, portion sizes were perfect. We will definitely be back. The only let down if we were being picky would be the decor of the eating room which lacks ambience and character. The bar area itself was traditional warm and cosy.

We don't think I have ever rated a restaurant with straight 10's but we really couldn't dock a point anywhere. We eat out a lot and seek out highly recommended restaurants and can truly say that it was the best meal we have had since before Covid, so that's in the last three years. If you are in the area you have to book here, and if you are a meat eater you must order the slow-cooked Highland Beef cheek - close to perfection. My husband & I really enjoyed our dinner at the restaurant. The food was very well prepared and presented as well as being delicious. We shared a soup and the had the fish & chicken dishes. Both were beautifully presented and very tasty. The service was both friendly and efficient.

The meal was amazing - perfect portions and wonderful flavours. My 11 year old son described the chocolate brownie as the best he has ever tasted; melted in his mouth! Thank you - will definitely be back when next up in Scotland.
