The bar area, where dogs are welcome, has eight taps, including two rotational cask ales. Foresters Guild is dedicated to providing the best local and international real ale and regularly introduces new breweries and beers to the range.
The fridges and shelved selection are constantly being updated, so you’re bound to find that tipple you love. With coffee served until late, we cater to everyone’s needs.
The restaurant is open until 9pm 7 days a week, serving good Scottish home cooking, along with specials created by our creative team of Chefs. All meats and fish are sourced from Edinburgh and the local surrounding areas, and the menu is ever-evolving seasonally. I love the beer garden and the beach huts. I love the staff even more! They are great! We mentioned that we were in the mood for scones, and even though they are not on the menu were told they DO have them. They arrived somewhat hot on the outside but still a bit frozen on the inside - so not fresh.
On the flipside - on another day I had lovely Fish and chips there with NOT mushy peas - yay! And the Sticky toffee pudding was so good and SOOOO big!
Hence the '8' as the Scones were just not good quality... (although the clotted cream that came with them :-)... It would be great to have a few options that are more 'lunchy' as I'd visit more often. Perhaps a couple of other salad options e.g. with chicken and hard boiled egg... or some such...
I will surely be back! Such great vibe and team.

Came here for the first time for lunch with my husband & niece. We sat in one of their Beach Huts which has a heater too. It was so nice. The food was lovely. I had the Fish Cakes & the others had Burgers which all had fries. We shared a stater which was Halloumi. It was so nice. Service was fab & really good value for money too. Great selection. I liked the food a lot but since me and my date got in, we waited about 10-15min before anybody bothered to ask about drinks, we had to wave to get service. We ordered drinks and food at the same time as we had enough of time to review the menu and have a chat on our first date. The food was amazing, first class but the staff could be more attentive as even when we wanted to pay, we had to wait about 20min before anybody appeared on the horizon to actually wave to and say we wanted to pay. We could probably easily leave without paying but that's not what I'd do ever (yet some people probably would).

What a treat! Foresters Guild ‘a food was outstanding. The food was fresh and so tasty. We started with the cauliflower appetizer and then shared the 10oz. Rump steak. We also had the crusted macaroni and cheese as a side. Each dish was wonderful. One of the best meals we had in 3 weeks of travel in Scotland. Highly recommend and make sure you have a reservation!

We visited on a bank holiday and there was staffing issues .We waited an hour for our starter. To be fair staff member admitted mistake. We got a drink free of charge. We had a lovely meal, the food was of great quality, the menu had lots of different choices and the service was very good. Dog friendly areas were very helpful. I know it was Saturday evening but we felt like the music was very loud. This did not spoil the overall experience though. Thanks for a lovely evening!

Fish batter was over cooked and too crispy almost brown in colour..
whilst chips where cut like wedges so thick cut that they weren’t fully cooked all the way through..
disappointed as I’ve had better food here before..
After Had to go up to the bar to pay for our meal as no bill was given to our table after our plates were taken any..

Social distancing on entering and exiting not good. Waiting for temperature check which was good caused queues and waiters taking drinks to outside and people leaving all too much at this time.

As a frequent visitor to Foresters I have enjoyed many lunches there with friends.
The food is good, the menu varied and the ambience is relaxed. I’ve always found the staff to be attentive and friendly. I never feel rushed or under any kind of pressure to vacate our table. All of these things add up to an enjoyable dining experience.
