We were a group of three generations and were very happy with the menu choices and service. It was a wet day and they were very busy with a large party of people, some who like us had booked and walk-ins who wanted to be inside due to the rain. They young front of house staff were well trained and flitted about looking after everyone, we thought it might take a long time for our order as it was busy but that was not the case. It was dry enough for the children to enjoy the play area after our meal.

Visited the Half Moon after several years. I cannot fault the service, food portion size and lovely coffees. Ordered Ploughman's lunch and I ended up asking the staff to wrap up the three cheeses left over for me to take it home! Lovely, pleasant afternoon, not too busy. Will visit again and not leave it so long the next time.

It’s a pity the lovely waitress hadn’t been told there was no hummus available before we had paid and had our first course served to us with extra olives in lieu. Ver unsatisfactory. Why would we want extra olives . The course was chosen for the hummus!!. We should have been given chance to choose something else. Lovely waitress . Not her fault .

My experience at the Half Moon was excellent however my experience with the Table Agent booking system was not. After numerous attempts to use the on-line system to book a table for 9 people, ultimately to be told there was no availability, I rang the pub direct and booked without a problem.

My friend and I went to the Half Moon for Sunday lunch. It was a warm day so we didn't want to order any of the roast mains. We instead ordered 2 starters which were delicious but very small. They cost £8 each so we paid the equivalent of a main course. We were disappointed that the portions were so small. There was nothing on the mains menu that was suitable for those not wanting roasts or fried food.

Lovely to sit beside open bi-fold doors on a hot summer evening. Enjoyed the charcuterie board to start and everyone enjoyed their main courses. Great that there was a mini dessert with coffee, but would be good to have a choice of a few others. Service was very good.

Sunday lunch with two teenage grandsons. Pleasant welcome from staff and good service from waitress. Starters - mushrooms and calamari, both tasty. One grandson had "catch of the day" which appeared just as I cook at home out of the freezer. Not fresh. Very disappointed. Second Grandson had burger - nothing special. Two adults had roast beef, which was tasty. However the plates were so small that all food was piled up (poor presentation) and then gravy spilt over the side. Need bigger plates and possibly a menu with "small plates". We both needed steak knives but still left some meat. Three starters and four main courses. A bit on the expensive side.

Out of 4 of us 3 had absolutely fantastic food,couldn't stop raving about it and ate evety scrap! I had had mussels which where over cooked and the sauce was so lumpy and watery without the reduced wine, parsley, slowly cooked shalotts, that it was pretty awful. I would like to state that this was just one persons with ridiculously high standards,opinion. I am so impressed with other's ideas.

Food was delicious and service was very friendly, although it too a while to get the food served, so just as well we were in no hurry! My only hesitation in booking here in December is knowing (from previous experiences) that it's generally draughty and chilly, despite the open fire. I was next to a radiator but was still a bit cold!

The food was delicious and well presented. Trouble with going on a Sunday is lots of noise from happy families - my friend & I couldn’t hear each other but the changing of three barrels just feet from where we sat made it even more difficult to talk to each other. But the staff, food & service were very very good. Will go again (probably not on a Sunday)

My Specials Minty Lamb Burger wasn't minty and, unlike all the other burgers on the menu, didn't come with onion rings. My wife's Specials Caesar Salad was a big pile of lettuce with not much of anything else - 'bland' was her description. I think we caught the Chef's night off...

The pub is lovely inside and out and the staff friendly. We ordered the kids fish and chips which was fine but also the steak and ale pie of the day which was honestly terrible. The meat was unpleasantly tough and stringy, the gravy watery and the potato tasted like it came out a packet. Really not ok to charge £16 for this. I couldn’t finish the meal which has never happened to me before! Such a shame as I really wanted to love this pub- hopefully the kitchen was just having an off day but not sure I’d risk going back.

The Half Moon is a lovely pub with lots of character, good beer and friendly service. However, we were disappointed in the food: my pork loin was tasteless and the burgers and fish/ chips were soggy. I was also surprised that the default service %'s on the credit card machine started at 15% and went upwards, which is very unusual in the UK. You had to do a "custom tip" to change it to a more usual 10% or 12.5%

We enjoyed our visit to the Half Moon the food was excellent and freshly cooked, and appreciated the extra jugs of gravy! The staff very attentive .Unfortunately there were only few other diners so not a lot of atmosphere, but you couldn’t fault the service or the food.

We ate quite late at about 4pm. The food was delicious but looked as if it had been dumped on the plate without any thought to presentation. Slightly cranky man behind bar who was a bit too vocal about his thoughts on customers! All felt a bit shabby, shame as used to be a great place to eat and drink. We probably won’t go back despite the good food

From car park, the rear entrance is dangerous as poor lighting and steps not marked and handrail rotting. Interior was dingy and lacked comfort, however the young staff tried hard and the steak was delicious, but the salad was a bit limp. We will return as the steak was lovely.

An enjoyable evening, with good food and drink. Perhaps a need for more attention (eg menu's delivered for desserts, then a need to track someone to take an order). A lack of atmosphere - probably due to only a few customers.

This is a great pub with several different eating and drinking spaces both indoors and out and with lots of parking. Staff were all really friendly. The food was average but not over priced. Would definitely recommend and will visit again.

Had Sunday lunch. Food was well cooked and nicely presented. We both had the lamb. My lamb shoulder was more bone than meat but it was very tasty. Unfortunately there was a power outage just after the food was served so not sure what the ambiance and service would be like under normal conditions.

Setting is amazing, lovely beer garden and great for the kids. Love the idea of the pizza bar outside but it just didn't deliver. The staff were underprepared for the amount of guests, and the food was sub par. We even heard the guy serving us saying to another member of staff that came to help him - 'have you any idea how to make pizzas?' to which the reply was 'nope'. I'd go again for the gorgeous setting but I probably wouldn't eat there. Such a shame.

We had a delightful waitress who couldn’t have been more helpful. I was in a group of four and although they all enjoyed their meals, my fish was absolutely full of bones, that could have been removed before I got it and my potato’s were not fully cooked, they were very hard. The other vegetables were lovely. Apart from this it was a very pleasant meal.

Lovely outdoor area for the kids to play and easy car parking. Food was pretty good with a good menu, but service was very slow and staff communicating with one another by endless shouting made it very noisy when there was hardly anyone there!
