Food was amazing until we had the frangiepan dessert. Where there should of been almond it was garlic.
It was very noisey in the bar downstairs and was not helped by the poor acoustics and TV flashing in our eyes with ads.
Staff were friendly, but kept asking if we wanted more drinks too often.
Generally the bar area looked tired with tatty menus and a letter missing from the signage behind the bar.

Food was great, a 40 minute wait for dessert was a bit long.
We had 4 strawberry and basil Margaritas, the 1st two were fine but the 2nd two weren’t the same as the barman explained the blender was broken and couldn’t blend the ingredients together. If we had known the drinks would be quite bland after the blender broke we wouldn’t have bought them.

Everyone understands - or should do - that Henley's are experiencing crippling fuel costs, plus it is an old building, but it is impossible to enjoy eating there because of the cold. Not the same wearing one's coat! It will be lovely when the weather warms up and we can enjoy Henley's again.

A couple of big groups in when we dined. As a table of 4 we were in the middle of them. A bit noisy and we had to shout at times! Maybe an idea to sit smaller tables away from bigger groups if possible. Apart from that a lovely evening as always.

We found the ambience to be somewhat stark and the overall noise from the kitchen and bare floorboards noisy and not so relaxing.
The table was too small for comfort for two people and the chairs not particularly comfortable.
We gave the food a higher rating but would suggest that the butchering of the steaks needs comment. There was a horizontal line of gristle running through both steaks which was a pity.
The dessert was not so good as the mains. The vegan ice cream was tasteless and the sticky toffee pudding has something which resembling ‘toe nails’ throughout and the overall flavour was too concentrated. The portion of ice cream was rather meagre and that was needed to get through the pudding.
Sadly we shan’t return as it wasn’t a restful experience especially with type of bar running underneath and people smoking outside the door as we left.

Terrible, Henley’s have gone down hill the last few time we have been there for date night. We are regulars to steak night and for Sunday roast.
Sunday we had to send out meal back as it was cold….. once it had been re-microwaved it was still just warm. The pudding was hotter then the main meals….. won’t be rushing back… which is a shame

We both ate the vegetarian dish - I can’t remember what it was except that it was absolutely delicious!!
The ambiance was perfect and we felt very ‘Covid-secure’. The high standard of the food displayed fresh ingredients beautifully crafted with complementary flavours - More than I normally pay for lunch, but worth every penny. The waitress who served us was helpful and very friendly. The lack of ambience in the bar wasn’t helped by the fact that we were the only ones in there, and that troops of people, who I’m assuming must have been upstairs or in another room, kept walking by to use the toilet or go outside to smoke. It felt like we were in a corridor. It also felt very cold in there. I thought that the choices available on the menu were ok but all priced at £19 or £20 which, for the type of “restaurant” we were in, were expensive. This was emphasised when our food arrived. I had ordered the prawn curry which was very unexciting and no better than I would expect in Wetherspoons. My friend was recommended by the waitress to go for the chicken Kiev, which she did, but she said it was dry and lacking in any hint of garlic. Unfortunately, although I enjoy an occasional drink in Henleys bar when it’s busy, we won’t be coming back to eat.

To be honest I was a little disappointed with the chicken, thought it could have been cooked a little longer, could not eat the skin which is a favorite at The Meadery as it was soft and slimy and the flesh was hard to remove from the bone.

Thank you for a lovely meal. We were delighted to see Beef Wellington on the menu and it did not disappoint. We are just sorry that we don't live closer, so it will be a while before we can visit again.
